Walk through the dense deciduous and mixed forests, deeply cut valleys and rocky mountains of the southern Harz Mountains in several stages – the 100 kilometre Baudensteig leads on well fortified and near-natural paths from Bad Grund to the monastery Walkenried.
Hiking through the national park and enjoying the regional cuisine
The name Baude means mountain restaurant. Each section offers the possibility to hike from the respective place to a refreshment point. From here we continue fresh with tasty Harzer specialities to the next village. In addition, a circular hiking trail leads through the pristine nature and passes numerous historical sights.
The highest point and highlight on the Baudensteig is the Hanskühnenburg in the middle of the Harz National Park. The restaurant has a lookout tower from where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Harz mountains. The Hanskühnenburg cliff to the north-east of the economy already fascinated Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Baudensteig – discover all the beauty of the Harz landscape
The Baudensteig offers a variety of paths and unique views of the Brocken or the Wurmberg. Again and again one encounters lichen- and moss-covered cliffs and historical places, crosses picturesquely quiet moors and walks through idyllic lake landscapes. The Baudensteig presents the scenic diversity of the Harz National Park and will give every outdoor enthusiast a real treat.
